Steamboat Springs – Howelsen Hill Nordic

Howelsen Hill Nordic Center, a Steamboat Springs owned and operated ski area, features 13 miles of Yampa Valley trails. It is the oldest ski area in Colorado that is still operating. Howelsen is also known for its Olympic Ski jumps, being the training ground of Olympians.

Howelsen Hill does not have rentals, but there are in town at the Ski Haus and the Ski Touring Center. They also offer an indoor ice rink and tubing hill. Fat tires are allowed on the trails on specific time only, Monday to Friday. The center is open every day except Mondays.

The International Skiing History Association and the Colorado Ski and Snowboard Museum and Hall of Fame acknowledged Howelsen Hill as a Pioneer Ski Resort.
